In Uganda, thousands of young people, mainly women, are migrating to Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Persian Gulf for low-skilled jobs primarily in domestic labor. Despite the promise of a secure income and savings that they will be able to send back home to their families, reports have illuminated that many people find themselves in exploitative positions, and some find it difficult to return to their home country. Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, Labour & Social Development has recently started publishing an ongoing list of officially vetted companies recruiting these positions abroad and their specific job openings on its External Employment Management System. Explore this map to find out more about the companies hiring and their open positions.
